weekly 2024.1.21
Rachel has been inquiring if I've done anything with Winston, my sourdough starter. Yesterday I got it out of the fridge, checked to see if it was still alive and made some bread.
The bread was good, but I didn't think it tasted very sourdough-ish. Winston went back into the fridge to wait for my next attempt.

Bekah had three games this week, which was a lot. They had two wins and one loss. So many of the girls on the team are completely clueless, making the games a big struggle.

I thought it was funny that Bekah got randomly chosen for a drug test this week. If you're a student athlete or have a parking spot, you must sign a waiver agreeing to be randomly tested.

Bekah and I dyed our eyebrows yesterday. I've never been able to commit to hair dye but I'm sick of having no eyebrows in pictures. Bekah also has really light eyebrows and she's always excited for anything related to beauty. The whole process took about 5 minutes and seemed to work really well. I'm curious to see how long it will last.

Today Stick gave a high counsel talk in the Spanish speaking, Gardner Park branch. Ever since Puerto Rico, he's done a lot of Spanish practice including reading the Book of Mormon twice in Spanish. Usually they just have someone interpret for the high counselors but he thought he could manage. He spoke for 19 minutes and there were some pronunciation mistakes, but he was close enough that I'm sure people could understand. He's brave! I would never do that.

We've added a third seminary teacher this semester. She was called last semester to serve as a permanent substitute, which was super helpful, but she wanted to do more this semester.
While deciding how to divide up the teaching responsibilities, the other two teachers wanted to teach a whole week at a time. I wasn't too sure about that but agreed to try it out. Last week I taught the whole week which was a lot, but this week I have off! I'll drive in and drop off Bekah and then come home, which seems pretty luxurious. After seminary, she will go to school with a friend that drives.

I got a fun present for Christmas and we've spent some time the last few weeks trying to plan.
We're watching lots of "Rick Steves in Italy" and trying to get ready. I am SO excited!
