weekly 2024.2.11

We are trying to get to the temple every month, and Columbia, SC is still closed.

Soooo, we got up way too early yesterday and drove 2:45 hours to the temple in Raleigh.

You would think we'd been there before since it's in our own state, but no. It's so hard to get appointments there, we can never manage it. Finally yesterday we had a miracle and got three appointments.

Lots more basketball this week. One loss, one win.

Bekah had a stake dance last night, which she always enjoys.

In the last few weeks, some of my tutoring students have changed.

My school has had a big influx of new students since Christmas and many of the students don't speak English.

They need help with basically everything, so I've been asked to help.

I have a girl from Honduras, a boy from Mexico, a boy from Costa Rica and tomorrow I'm getting another girl from Honduras, who might be the sister of my other Honduras girl. It's so fun for me but also, a teensy bit stressful because I have no curriculum and I have to figure out a lesson on my own every day. And also, I feel a little bit bad because it means I don't have time for my original students. But, I am there to help where the school decides they need help, so I'll do what they want.

Just after I said last week that I never get photos in a game because it's too hard to manage, a lady in our community posted a whole bunch of pictures that she takes with a real camera, not a phone camera.

She's taken pictures in years past but right now it's especially impressive because her life has been so crazy since basketball season last year. She got some kind of horrible sickness that resulted in having both her legs cut off. Yet, she still manages the kindness of taking these photos and giving them to the players for free.

You'll see in most of these photos Bekah going against a girl that's taller and heavier than her. She's challenging for skinny Bekah to deal with, but she holds her own.
