weekly 3.10.24

This was Bekah's last official week of basketball. The Varsity team got beat Friday night by West Rowan, the same team that beat them last year in the tournament. She's sad to be done.

I've been battling the pooping birds on our porch. Now that the dog is gone, the wildlife is creeping in. Every time I go out to the porch, there is gross bird poop all over the chairs. I hung up some old cd's in the hope that the flashing reflections will keep the birds away. I don't know if it will work, but we had the cd's and I figured it was worth ten minutes of my time. Plus, as you can see, it looks suuuuper classy.

The forsythia is blooming!

It may be early March but the weeds are already out of control. I spent quite a few hours Friday weeding my flower bed. I also planted a whole bunch of California poppies. I've had mixed luck with them in the past, so here's to hoping anything grows.

After six months, our temple is finally open! Nothing will make you appreciate your two hour temple commute more that having your temple closed. We had fun going to the Atlanta temple and seeing family at the same time, but a two hour temple drive was so nice yesterday. It's funny how your perception changes. When we first moved here, the two hour drive seemed to take foreveeeeeeeeer compared to our five minute drive in Draper. But now 2 hours compared to 4+ to Atlanta seems like a breeze.

We got back around 1pm and immediately went into church prom mode.

We got Bekah's dress from Shein and it had a bit of a weird situation with the darts. I had to google how to adjust the darts. I took the top layer and lining apart and had to resew the darts, but fortunately I was able to do it successfully and it looked a lot better.

Bekah invited five friends over for a pre-prom party. These girls were all invited to attend prom but aren't old enough to have a date yet. They did their hair, makeup and nails at our house. They had been talking about going to Chick-fil-A to eat, but then I offered to make tacos here instead. Then somehow the tacos evolved into Stick making steaks/shrimp for them. We also had salad and rolls, a nice drink, potatoes and Stick even got sorbet so they could cleanse their palate between courses. They loved everything and made me laugh talking about how the sorbet was just like the scene from The Princess Diaries.

Wearing aprons to protect their dresses.

Stick put on his suit and changed from chef to chauffer.

It was a masquerade ball and Bekah had a fantastic night. The prom was from 7-10 and then someone in our ward had an after-party. I picked up kids from the after-party at 11:30 and we didn't get home until just after midnight. Fortunately, church prom only comes once a year, especially considering that the clocks changed last night. It's been a really sleepy day.

Two of these stake YWs leaders are from our ward.

Lots of the girls wore their dresses to church today but at the last minute Bekah decided not to, which disappointed several of the adult women who had fun seeing all the girl's dresses and asked where her dress was.

That's it for us!
